MALDEN, Mass. - On Saturday, January 24th, 2009, the City of Malden held a ceremony to dedicate its brand new Senior Community Center to Congressman Markey’s parents and life-long Maldonians, John E. & Christina M. Markey. Rep. Markey, his wife, Dr. Susan Blumenthal, his two brothers John and Richard Markey, and many cousins, aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews were joined by hundreds of members of the community to help celebrate the grand opening of this beautiful, state-of-the art building.

Sep. 26, 2008 - Markey: Congress Should Oppose Risky US-India Nuclear Deal
Markey Highlights Nonproliferation Danger, House Vote Expected Later Today
 
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. During House Floor debate, Representative Edward J. Markey (D-Malden) urged Congress to oppose the US-India Nuclear Deal because it fails to meet the common-sense nonproliferation conditions set by Congress two years ago. Despite Rep. Markey's opposition, the House voted in support of the deal and passed H. R. 7081 - United States-India Nuclear Cooperation Approval and Nonproliferation Enhancement Act - on September 27th.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Edward J. Markey (D-Malden) today hailed the House Democratic comprehensive energy measure that will lower costs to consumers and American taxpayers, invest in renewable energy sources to create American jobs, expand domestic energy supply and create greater energy efficiency and conservation. Rep. Markey, as Chairman of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, fought hard to include important provisions for more efficient buildings, plug-in hybrid vehicles, low-income heating assistance, and protections for Georges Bank against oil drilling.
